|The annual tradition of a Sunday Luncheon Tasting took place in Whitton in the Chairman’s Garden. The theme this year rather unique an opportunity of exploring wines from the Loire Valley principally the grape varietal Cabernet Franc from the Winery of Pierre et Bertrand Couly at Chinon. The diversity of this grape varietal and especially in the Loire is of great interest with the influences of both the terrain and climate be it on the banks of the Loire or up on the hills of the valley.|
Our afternoon began with a light Sangria Cup made from Cranberry Juice, Apple Juice, Rose Port and Sparkling Saumur after which we commenced the tasting.
Luncheon was served and accompanied by Vouvray (Chenin Blanc) and Domaine des Marquises Bourgueil – another Cabernet Franc Wine much loved in the Loire.

The afternoon drifted into evening and thankfully the weather was with us so we managed to remain in the garden enjoying the delights offered. The excursion proved to be of much interest and learning with several planning to visit the area and continue the exploration of the wines indicative of this part of France.
