Committee member Hans Schrader organised our tasting. He had contacted a member of the RCS who incidentally was a wine shipper and had German Wines. Our presenter Kate Dowdeswell studying for her Master of Wine and an accomplished musician guided us lightheartedly but thoroughly through some very interesting wines which allayed the old tastes of the 60’s. Indeed many exclaimed surprise and were impressed with the collection. Descriptions of the terroir, details of the growing methods and difficulties incurred on the steep slopes as well as the climate were expressed with ongoing questions from our throng. Supper was organised by Wine Club friend Chef Roger Evans who had joined the Caledonian last year. A good evening had by all and all well imbibed.
